KI 2008 is the 31st edition of the German Conference on Artificial
\nIntelligence, which traditionally brings together academic and
\nindustrial researchers from all areas of AI. The technical programme
\nof KI 2008 will comprise paper and poster presentations and a
\nvariety of workshops and tutorials.<\/p>\n
We invite proposals for workshops to be held at the beginning of
\nthe conference. Eligible topics include all subareas of Artificial
\nIntelligence, as well as their foundations and applications.<\/p>\n

How to Propose a Workshop<\/p>\n
Proposals should be about two (2) pages in length. They should be
\nprepared in PDF or plain ASCII and sent by email to the KI 2008
\nWorkshop Chair Thomas Roth-Berghofer (trb@dfki.uni-kl.de).<\/p>\n
The proposals should be written in English and must arrive by
\nJanuary 25, 2008. Each workshop proposal should contain the
\nfollowing:<\/p>\n
– A description of the workshop topic. This description should
\nbriefly discuss why the suggested topic is of particular
\ninterest at this time.<\/p>\n
– A brief description of the workshop format, regarding the mix
\nof events such as paper presentation, invited talks, panels,
\ndemonstrations, and general discussion.<\/p>\n
– An indication as to whether the workshop should be considered
\nfor a half-day or one-day meeting.<\/p>\n
– The names and full contact information (email and postal
\naddresses, fax and telephone numbers) of the organising
\ncommittee (three or four people knowledgeable in the field)
\nand short descriptions of their relevant expertise. (Please
\nspecify the main contact.) Strong proposals include organisers
\nwho bring differing perspectives to the workshop topic and who
\nare actively connected to the communities of potential
\nparticipants.<\/p>\n
– A list of potential attendees.<\/p>\n

Workshop organisers will be responsible for:<\/p>\n
– Producing a call for participation. The call is due February 20,
\n2008. This call will be posted on the KI 2008 website. Organisers
\nare responsible for additional publicity such as distributing the
\ncall to relevant newsgroups and electronic mailing lists, and
\nespecially to potential audiences from outside the KI conference
\ncommunity. Organisers are encouraged to maintain their own web
\nsite with updated information about the workshop.<\/p>\n
– Coordinating the production of the workshop notes. The KI 2008
\nWorkshop Chair coordinates the collection, production, and
\ndistribution of the working notes for the workshops. Workshop
\npapers and abstracts must be received by the KI 2008 Workshop
\nChair no later than August 17, 2008, and volumes are limited to
\na total of 200 pages.<\/p>\n
The KI 2008 conference organisers will provide logistic support,
\nand meeting places for the workshops, and will determine the
\ndates and times of the workshops. The KI 2008 conference
\norganisers reserves the right to drop any workshop if the
\norganisers miss the above deadlines. All workshop participants
\nmust register for the KI 2008 conference.<\/p>\n
